Devitts’ Insurance aren’t just one of the oldest scooter insurance companies in the UK, they are also one of the oldest insurance companies period!

Devitts was founded by Thomas Henry Devitt when he first made his name in the shipping industry and founded the famous Orient Line.

Following the success of Orient Line, subsequent generations of the family made the natural move into Marine Insurance.

In 1936, the Devitt name was established as a leading Scooter Insurance Broker, following the innovative idea to sell motorcycle insurance via motorcycle dealers.

This unique scheme known as Devitt DA (DA stood for Dealer Association) meant that customers could buy the motorcycle of their dreams and ride off into the sunset that very day, secure in the knowledge they were fully insured, a scheme that still operates successfully now.

In 1993, Devitt launched its direct operation, enabling customers to purchase insurance over the phone.
